LeBron Raymone James Sr. is an American basketball professional who plays with the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. King James is widely regarded as one of the top basketball players and is frequently in comparison to Michael Jordan when discussing the most well-known basketball player. James has taken home four NBA championships four NBA MVP awards and four NBA Finals MVP awards three All-Star MVP awards and two Olympic gold medals. James is the holder of having the top score of points in the postseason, second highest overall career score and 7th highest number of career assists. James has been named an NBA All-Star 18 times to the All-NBA Team a record 18 times and to be named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times. He was the third player to compete in NBA Finals. Eight of these were consecutive between 2011 through 2018. James was selected to an NBA 75th Anniversary Team and became the NBA's first player who has attained 10,000 points or more, rebounds, and assists throughout his career. He will be the first to do so in 2022. James played basketball at St. Vincent St. Mary High School in his home town from Akron Ohio and was heavily advertised by national media as a potential NBA star. In preparation for his professional career, his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers chose him as the number one overall pick during the NBA draft in 2003. In 2004, he was named NBA Rookie. Then, he quickly was one of the league's best players and was awarded the NBA MVP in both 2009 and 2010. James went free agency following his failure to earn championships in Cleveland. The decision to quit Cleveland in order to join Miami Heat, announced on the television show The Decision, is considered as one of the most controversial free-agent decisions in the history of sports.
