Rihanna, who was born in Saint Michael and grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados became an audition for Evan Rogers, an American record producer. He invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. She was signed to Def Jam in 2005 and quickly became a household name when she released her debut two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) as well as A Girl Like Me (2006). Both were heavily influenced by Caribbean music and made it to the top ten spots on the US Billboard 200 charts. The third album by Rihanna, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) comprised elements of dance music and established her status as a sex icon in the world of music. Rihanna's debut Grammy Award was won for her hit song "Umbrella" that launched Rihanna to international stardom. The next three studio albums, Rated R (2010), Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), continued her blend of R&B and pop. Unapologetic (2012) was her first Billboard 200 top-ten album. These albums produced a number of chart-topping hits, including "Rude Boy", “Only Girl (In the World)," and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We Found Love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". Anti (2016)", her eighth studio album was her first album since she left Def Jam. It was her second US top album and included the chart-topping hit single "Work". During her musical career, Rihanna has collaborated with numerous artists, including Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Shakira. Rihanna is the second most-sold female musician in the world having sold more than 250 million albums sold around the world. Rihanna has had number one and has 31 top ten hits in the US, and a top ten in the UK with 30 songs. Nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards including the Icon Award, 12 Billboard Music Awards along with six Guinness World Records and the NAACP's President's Award are just a couple of her achievements. Time has named her one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world in the years 2012 and 2018. Forbes placed her among the top ten celebrities with the highest earnings in 2012 and 2014.
